We are happy to inform you that for the first time, Sumangalian has been selected to Sri Lankan Physics Olympiad team to participate for both Asian and International Physics Olympiad competitions this year and he need financial help to participate.

His name is Ravindu Ranatunga and he lives at 27/138, Sirimal Uyana, Dibbedda, Panadura. He has already selected to Moratuwa University this year.

The Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO) will be held in Mongolia in this April and the International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) will be held in Vietnam, during this July. Our Sumangalian is team with students from Royal College - Colombo, Ananda College - Colombo, Maliyadeva Vidyala - Kurunegala, D. S. Senanayake College - Colombo and St.Thomas' College - Mount Lavinia.

The Ministry of Education has made all the arrangements in preparing the Sri Lankan team for those competitions. Even though the students, who are participate for them should find the money for the air tickets by themselves. So it would cost about Rs. 120,000/- and Rs. 100,000/- only for the air tickets for Mongolian and Vietnamese tours, respectively. And also it would cost more for the other initial steps which should be made before the departure.

He is not in position to find enough funds for this competition because of this financial background. His father has died 3 years back and his elder sister is the only occupant of the family.

He has send us a letter requesting some help regarding this. So we think it's worth to help this student as he is a Sumangalian all we can proud.

So we are requesting from all our fellow Sumangalians to help him on funds or to find him a sponsor for this competition. He need to find these funds before end of March, so please contact us on following contact details for more information.
